An experienced Accounts Assistant is required for a permanent position within the Finance Department of a regional construction business based in Durham. The role will support the day-to-day accounting activities of the business and a portfolio of joint venture companies.

The Role
The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities and supporting the month-end reporting process.
Key duties will include journals, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, sales invoicing, credit control, VAT and intercompany accounting, as well as assisting with management information, audit requirements and statutory reporting.
Experience Required
- AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
- Previous finance or accounting experience, including month-end processes.
- Good knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Experience with journals, reconciliations, VAT and intercompany accounting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience within construction, property development or housebuilding would be advantageous.
- Experience with COINS, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics or similar systems would be beneficial.
Remuneration
£35,000 per annum.
