A permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Foreman to join a leading civil engineering organisation. The successful candidate will oversee site activities across civil engineering projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

The company is an established civil engineering and infrastructure specialist, delivering major projects across areas including highways, drainage, structures and associated civil engineering works. The Role
The Civils General Foreman will be responsible for supervising direct labour and subcontractor teams and coordinating daily site activities. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and allocating daily activities to site teams and gangs.
- Ensuring works comply with RAMS, health and safety requirements and quality standards.
- Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and RAMS briefings.
- Monitoring progress, productivity, resources and site records.
- Coordinating plant, equipment, materials and deliveries.
- Supporting programme planning and providing regular progress updates.
- Maintaining accurate records and assisting with commercial reporting.
- Identifying and resolving day-to-day delivery issues.
- Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Supporting quality assurance, inspections and defect resolution.
- Acting as Temporary Works Supervisor where required.
Experience Required
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven experience delivering large-scale civil engineering schemes, particularly highways, drainage and structures.
- Strong knowledge of construction activities including deep excavation and temporary works.
- A minimum Gold CSCS card.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A full UK driving licence with a clean or low-points record.
- Confined Space, Street Works and First Aid qualifications are desirable.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- A proactive, professional and safety-focused approach.
