An experienced Plant & Transport Manager is required for a new permanent position with a well-established civil engineering business in Gateshead. The role offers responsibility for a substantial fleet and requires strong knowledge of transport compliance, vehicle management and driver administration.

The Role
The Plant & Transport Manager will oversee a fleet comprising approximately 15 trucks, 20 plant machines and 10 vans, alongside responsibility for drivers and transport compliance.
Key duties will include managing driver attendance and tachograph records, coordinating six-weekly vehicle safety inspections, arranging MOTs and repairs, and maintaining accurate records of vehicle defects and associated costs.
The role will also involve managing insurance claims, accident reports and public complaints, ensuring all matters are dealt with efficiently and in accordance with company procedures.
Working hours: Monday–Thursday 7.00am–4.30pm, Friday 7.00am–3.30pm.
Experience Required
- Previous experience in a Plant & Transport Management role.
- Strong understanding of fleet and vehicle compliance requirements.
- Experience managing drivers, tachographs, inspections, MOTs and vehicle repairs.
- Experience handling accident reports, insurance claims and public complaints.
- CPC qualification/licence is essential.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a busy operational environment.
Remuneration
£40,000–£45,000 per annum, depending upon experience.
