Senior Quantity Surveyor, North East

 

The Company

An established and growing engineering and construction business is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team. Operating across a diverse portfolio of projects, the company is recognised for delivering high-quality solutions under formal contracts while maintaining a collaborative and professional working environment.

 

The Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial ownership of larger, higher-risk projects, ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance and commercial performance from project award through to final account. The role will also provide commercial assurance, guidance and mentoring across the wider project portfolio, supporting Project Managers with commercial governance, risk management, procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations, forecasting, CVRs and contractual entitlement. Working closely with operational teams, this position plays a key role in driving commercial best practice and supporting successful project delivery.

 

Experience Required

Applicants should hold a Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline, with extensive experience in a Senior Quantity Surveying or commercial management role within construction, engineering or M&E environments. Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts, experience managing formal contracts, valuations, variations, compensation events, final accounts, subcontract procurement, forecasting and CVRs is essential. Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, leadership and stakeholder management skills are required, with Chartered status (MRICS/MCIOB) desirable.
