An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Buyer to join an award-winning construction business based in the Newcastle area. This permanent, full-time position offers the chance to lead the purchasing function and play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of construction projects across the business.
The Role
As Senior Buyer, you will lead a small team responsible for the procurement of materials, plant, equipment, and subcontract services for a wide range of building projects.
Working closely with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, you will ensure projects receive the right resources at the right time, while maintaining value for money and keeping programmes on track.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the buying team.
- Managing group-wide purchasing activities.
- Negotiating supplier agreements and rebate arrangements.
- Securing competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
The Person
Applications are welcomed from experienced Buyers with a strong background in the construction sector who are ready to take on a leadership role.
You will have:
- Several years' experience in a buying or procurement role within construction.
- Strong commercial awareness and sound negotiating skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience managing supplier agreements and purchasing strategies.
Remuneration
Negotiable, depending upon experience.
