SHEQ Manager

A SHEQ Manager with a strong emphasis on Quality is required to join a privately owned civil engineering contractor operating across the North East. This is a permanent opportunity offering a strategic role within an established and growing business.

The Company

A well-respected, privately owned civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure and groundworks projects throughout the region, with additional work nationwide. 

The Role

The SHEQ Manager will lead and develop the company’s Quality systems while maintaining oversight of Health, Safety and Environmental standards. The role will involve both strategic input and operational support across live projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and improving the Integrated Management System, with particular focus on Quality

• Ensuring compliance with ISO standards and industry regulations

• Conducting internal audits and supporting external accreditation processes

• Promoting best practice across project teams

• Supporting operational management with risk management and compliance

• Investigating non-conformances and driving continuous improvement initiatives

• Providing guidance and training to site and management teams

Experience Required

• Proven experience in a SHEQ leadership role within civil engineering

• Strong working knowledge of Quality management systems and ISO standards

• Experience conducting audits and managing compliance processes

• Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Relevant qualifications in Quality, Health & Safety or Environmental management (NEBOSH and/or ISO Lead Auditor desirable)

Remuneration

• £45,000 to £50,000 per annum
