A well-established groundworks subcontractor are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to oversee a 278 works scheme in Northumberland.
The Role
- Manage day-to-day site operations for S278 highway works.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
- Maintain programme and ensure works are delivered to schedule.
- Liaise with local authority highways officers, utilities, and stakeholders.
- Oversee traffic management, drainage, kerbing, surfacing, and street works.
- Ensure compliance with permit schemes and road space bookings.
- Manage site documentation, RAMS, and reporting.
- Monitor budgets and assist with cost control and forecasting.
Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Site Agent or Senior Engineer on highways or civil engineering schemes.
- Strong knowledge of Section 278 highway works and local authority processes.
- Experience delivering highways infrastructure projects (junction improvements, drainage, footways, carriageway works etc.).
- Ability to manage subcontractors and site teams.
- Good understanding of CDM regulations and health & safety legislation.
Remuneration:
- £325.00 to £375.00 per day (dependent on experience)
